The Chamber of Kilkis was founded in 1981 and constitutes a Legal Person of Public Right. Administratively it belongs to the Ministry of Development. It is a self-contained and self-managed Organization, which has an elective administration with a four year service. Representatives from the enterprises of the Prefecture of Kilkis have a right to participate in the election either as electors or as elected. It is managed by fivefold Administrative Committee and Administrative Council which consists of 21 directors. The Administrative Council is composed of four departments: Commerce, Small and Medium Sized Industries, Industry and a department for the Rest of the Professions. Members of the chamber can become Individual and Legal Persons that practice business activity in the Prefecture of Kilkis. The number of members today rises to more than 6.500 enterprise, of any kind, 25% of which belongs to the secondary field of activities, 74% to the tertiary(?) field (commerce, services, tourist companies) and 1% to the first field of activities. Under the current institutional framework, the Chamber of Kilkis is a consultative and advisory body of the State and Business Members. It aims to represent, monitor and promote of industry, small sized industry, trade and services, in line with the development of the economy. The Chamber in order to meet the institutional and developmental role, operates on a business plan, with the help of which reorganized its services and has built its organization chart. An action plan is formed on an annual basis, incorporating new elements which update the operational plan. Each year’s programming subjects to approval of the administrative bodies of the Chamber. |
