Kilkis chamber short profile

The Chamber of Kilkis was founded in 1981 and constitutes a Legal Person of Public Right. Administratively it belongs to the Ministry of Development. It is a self-contained and self-managed Organization, which has an elective administration with a four year service. Representatives from the enterprises of the Prefecture of Kilkis have a right to participate in the election either as electors or as elected.

It is managed by fivefold Administrative Committee and Administrative Council which consists of 21 directors. The Administrative Council is composed of four departments: Commerce, Small and Medium Sized Industries, Industry and a department for the Rest of the Professions.

Members of the chamber can become Individual and Legal Persons that practice business activity in the Prefecture of Kilkis. The number of members today rises to more than 6.500 enterprise, of any kind, 25% of which belongs to the secondary field of activities, 74% to the tertiary(?) field (commerce, services, tourist companies) and 1% to the first field of activities. Under the current institutional framework, the Chamber of Kilkis is a consultative and advisory body of the State and Business Members. It aims to represent, monitor and promote of industry, small sized industry, trade and services, in line with the development of the economy. The Chamber in order to meet the institutional and developmental role, operates on a business plan, with the help of which reorganized its services and has built its organization chart. An action plan is formed on an annual basis, incorporating new elements which update the operational plan. Each year’s  programming subjects to approval of the administrative bodies of the Chamber.

 

As part of its institutional role, the Chamber of Kilkis

·   Provides public services (licenses, certificates, etc.)

·   Advices the State (provides information, advices, submits proposals, forms expert committees)

·   Participate in planning committees of regional institutions and Local Administrations.

·   Develops actions and provides supporting services (provides information, advices and training to its members, conducts studies and expert opinions promotes business partnerships and participates in development organisations)

·   Cooperates with organizations at local, regional, national and international levels as well as universities and research institutes.

·   Supports financially primary and secondary labour unions and their initiatives.

·   Manages the available infrastructure and plans the establishment of new ones.

 

The Chamber of Kilkis expresses the interests of about 6,000 Small and Medium Sized companies (traders, industrialists  and other professions).

It intervenes between member-businesses and the state and promotes their interests, so that the State takes certain actions.

At the same time, it highlights the problems of every represented business category and ensures they are properly settled.

It monitors the media policies and is involved in consultations, advises the state and comments on legislation actions.

It also forms the positions and views of the business world in various issues (insurance, tax, finance, land use, etc.) through documented studies and surveys.

It informs its members through press releases, SMS and its website.

It supports the extroversion of its member businesses:

With consulting services, associates searching networks, by contacting other Chambers, Agencies and Organizations abroad, by organizing programs for participation in trade fairs, information events on foreign markets, programs on business meetings of Greek and foreign entrepreneurs and by urging its members to enter the world of new modern technologies.
